New Star Wars Trilogy?

Rumors have surfaced today that George Lucas is going to create another Star Wars trilogy after he the original trilogy is released in 3D. The 3D process is supposedly going to be finished in 2015 or 2016. So, Return of the Jedi could come out in theaters in 2017. Add probably 2 more years or so to that and we are looking at a 2019 or 2020 release of the first film of the new trilogy.

The new trilogy will supposedly not focus on the Skywalkers and could take place up to 1,000 years into the future. This is not the first time that there was talk to a new sequel trilogy. A 1978 Time article stated that Stars Wars II, which became The Empire Strikes Back, would have ten sequels. Read the Wikipedia article on the sequel trilogy and see what I mean.
