The Shining Wizard #1: Get Over It, John Cena is a Very Good Wrestler

Welcome to the first edition of The Shining Wizard, the concussion-causing, brain-smashing column all about wrestling. I will discuss the future, present and past about the world of professional wrestling. You may be asking yourself why the column is called The Shining Wizard. For those of you who do not know, that is the name of a wrestling move performed by Keiji Mutoh, the Japanese legend who is known worldwide for being The Great Muta. Take a look at the video below.

Most of the smarks nowadays think that John Cena's lack of wrestling ability and edge make him the worst wrestler in the WWE ever (I guess they are no considering the Brooklyn Brawler or the Gobbledy Gooker). That is obviously a bogus statement as the “Marine” is the driving force behind the company and outside of him, Randy Orton, Triple H and the Undertaker (and possibly Edge), the WWE does not have many stand out wrestlers. Even though smarks can't stand to see Cena holding a championship, even casual fans know who he is and what he has accomplished. These fans don't know who Drew McIntyre, Tyson Kidd or who any of the other superstars that I did not mention earlier are or care about.

Cena is larger than life. Sure, unlike Steve Austin, he is a bit too much of a God-loving, respect the government that parents love, but that is what also makes him unique. He is the clear cut good guy, something we haven't seen in years which is a nice change of pace.

There is no way to deny that Cena carries himself, and more importantly, a world title as a champion. I think back to his WWE title match against RVD at the second One Night Stand pay-per-view. He knew beforehand that he was going into an event where the entire crowd wanted him crucified for crimes against wrestling humanity. The so-called wrestler from "Krypton, Massachusetts" could have dogged his match with RVD, but he held his his head high and acted like Rocky Balboa going into a Soviet ring in Rocky IV to face Ivan Drago. I had a lot of respect for him in that match. It is one of the better matches he has ever been in.

Cena may not be the anti-hero type of wrestler that has become so prevalent in recent wrestling history, but he has fun while in the ring and truly loves the sport. There is no way that the man is going to leave the business, which makes even more integral to build the WWE around. I am proud to watch Cena wrestle for the WWE as he is actually a character, not a generic guy in tights.
